This position provides an opportunity to support faculty leadership while contributing to curriculum development, staff support, and student achievement. Working closely with the Head of Faculty, the Assistant Head of Faculty will help lead teaching and learning within the faculty, supporting the implementation of effective curriculum and assessment practices. The role focuses on fostering a collaborative professional culture, supporting staff development, and ensuring high-quality learning experiences for students.  There is 1 MU associated with this role. 
 

 

Job Description

Ngā kawenga | Key responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities of a classroom teacher and/or Tutor Group Teacher, the Assistant Head of Faculty will:
Curriculum and Assessment Leadership
•    Support the Head of Faculty in leading curriculum and assessment development within the faculty
•    Contribute evidence-based information to support the development of curriculum and assessment policies and procedures
•    Support faculty staff to understand, implement, and evaluate curriculum and assessment practices
Professional Leadership and Faculty Culture
•    Work with the Head of Faculty to foster a professional team culture aligned with the School’s Values and Guiding Principles
•    Encourage collaborative practice, reflective teaching, and innovative approaches to learning
•    Support the implementation of the School’s safe school philosophies
Student Learning and Achievement
•    Assist with monitoring and analysing student achievement data to inform teaching programmes and interventions
•    Support the development of programmes that promote student engagement and personal excellence
Curriculum Development
•    Work with the Head of Faculty to develop deep learning opportunities and meaningful curriculum integration across the faculty
•    Contribute to curriculum review to ensure rich learning experiences and relevant learning contexts for students
Staff Support and Development
•    Assist the Head of Faculty in supporting and developing faculty staff
•    Encourage participation in professional learning and subject associations
•    Contribute to staff appraisal processes in line with school policies and procedures
•    Support the appointment and induction of faculty staff when required
Resources and Administration
•    Assist with the effective use and management of faculty resources and equipment
•    Support the Head of Faculty with administrative and financial processes, including contributing to annual budget planning
•    Ensure health and safety practices support a safe learning environment
