Job Description

About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Football Coaches (Junior A and 2nd XI) to join our sports programme for the winter season. In this role, you will play a key part in developing student athletes, fostering a positive team culture, and supporting players to perform at their best in both training and competitive matches.
You’ll:
• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality training sessions that develop players’ technical and tactical skills
• Lead and coach your team during weekly fixtures, creating a competitive and supportive environment
• Build strong relationships with players and communicate effectively with parents and the wider sports department
• Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that supports student wellbeing and growth
• Collaborate with other pathway coaches to share best practice and support player development
 

Desired Skills and Experience

This is a fixed-term, seasonal role across Term 2 and Term 3 (April – August, including a three-week break over school holidays).
Hours:
• Games: Wednesdays, 3:30pm – 5:30pm
• Training: Mondays, 7:00am – 8:00am
• Planning: Up to 2 hours per week
 
We’re looking for someone with | Ngā pūkenga me whai:
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for young athletes
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Sound coaching knowledge and understanding of player development pathways
• A proactive and collaborative approach to coaching
 
Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience planning and delivering effective training sessions and game strategies
• Understanding of systems and approaches to develop young football players
Coaching accreditation:
• C Licence (or working towards) preferred
Health and Safety:
• Ensure all accidents, incidents, hazards, and risks are reported promptly to the Sports Manager
Key Performance Indicators:
• Provide a termly report to the Sports Manager in Charge of Football, outlining player development across technical, tactical, and fitness areas
Competitive remuneration $40-50 an hour dependent on experience
