We are seeking a capable and values-driven Head of Faculty - Waiora to join our team leading Learning Support, Gifted and Talented Education, and Health-Related Learning Needs, helping us deliver the high standards and care we are known for. You'll be starting at the beginning of the academic year, 2027. 

 

Job Description

Mō te tūranga: About the role
As Head of Faculty - Waiora, you will lead a team of 11 teachers, teacher aides and support staff, providing strategic leadership across three connected areas of student need. You will:
•    Lead learning support programmes for Years 7-13, liaising with students, families and specialists to identify and support learning needs, while working with subject teachers to adapt units of work and building staff awareness of learning differences
•    Oversee the identification and extension of gifted and talented students through the School's GATE Curious Minds programme, including relationships with external GATE networks
•    Coordinate support for students with health-related learning needs, including concussion and return-to-learn planning, liaising closely with medical professionals, Deans and families
•    Manage Special Assessment Conditions and specialist reports, ensuring staff are well-informed while student privacy is protected
•    Support students' transition into Dio and champion a culture of trust, collegiality and professional growth across the Waiora team
•    Provide financial and administrative leadership for the Waiora team, including budget management and reporting on student achievement outcomes
 

Desired Skills and Experience

Ngā pūkenga me whai: We're looking for someone with
•    A qualified and registered Teacher (primary or secondary), with school management experience and the confidence to lead and motivate a team
•    A postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in inclusive education, learning support, or a related specialist field
•    Knowledge of, or experience with learning differences, gifted and talented education, and an understanding of health-related learning needs and return-to-learn processes
•    Strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work confidently across teaching, medical and external stakeholder groups
•    A genuine commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and the School's vision and values
