Inspire the next generation of young women — help lead our Junior School (Years 0–6)

At Diocesan School for Girls, we nurture young women who are curious, courageous and empowered to shape their futures. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and inspiring educational leader to join our Junior School leadership team as Assistant Principal from Term 1, 2027.

You’ll be part of a warm, collaborative team where people look out for one another and every girl is known and valued. This new, full-time role reports to the Head of Junior School and includes up to 0.4 teaching.

Job Description

Mō te tūranga: About the role

  • Support the Head and Deputy Principal in leading the Junior School and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), deputising as required
  • Oversee daily programmes, timetables, duty rosters and house events
  • Lead the support and specialist teaching teams, and support behaviour management and pastoral care
  • Coordinate academic assessments and competitions, and teach Year 6 extension groups
  • Our Junior School offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), and you will play a key part in its leadership and continued development.

Desired Skills and Experience

Ngā pūkenga me whai: We’re looking for someone with

  • NZ teacher registration and proven school leadership experience
  • Strong leadership, strategic, interpersonal, organisational and digital skills
  • Expertise in curriculum development, assessment and student achievement, including current curriculum knowledge and teaching experience above Year 6
  • A commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • IB PYP knowledge and experience (desirable)
